Jon Hague
The Status Quo Needs to Change
First-time candidate.
Proud Democrat interested in fixing the system forever
Funded by small dollar donors and the ONLY working class WVian in this race.
Gave up his career as a state employee to run for office
Believes in bail reform that allows for equal justice for rich and poor alike. It is unconscionable to keep poor defendents who are not a flight risk months in jail simply because of an inability to pay bail.
Pro-environment. Pro Green New Deal. Clean water and clean air are rights of every West Virginian. Going forward we must address climate change, not deny its reality as our Republican opponents do. And the best way to do that in WV is to build a green economy IN former coal lands so that our people have jobs and we can have a just transition away from old technologies.
Will protect the 1st Amendment right of ANYONE to protest. It is a cherished freedom and one of the things that make America great.
Lived through Water Crisis and is STILL mad about it. Will protect and expand water quality protections.
Believes in common sense regulations to combat gun violence such as closing the trade show loophole. Is a gun owner himself and believes in encouraging safe responsible gun ownership.
Believes in supporting LOCAL small businesses instead of out of state corporations. It is time WV business was put first.
Increasing financial penalties on those without the ability to pay is irresponsible and ineffective.
Anti-career politician and responsible term limits.
Who is the Democratic Party going to choose as their standard bearer in this upcoming general election? Jon Hague is supported by everyday people, he is pro-environment, pro-criminal justice reform, anti-lobbyist influence. If you believe WV needs a change in direction and new leadership I humbly ask for your support.
Andrew Robinson
The Establishment Candidate
Career Politician.
Republican-lite and defender of the status quo.
Funded by PACS and Special Interests. Most donors are lawyers and lobbyists.
Received a failing grade in political courage.
Voted to keep poor people in jail until every last penny of bail is paid (HB 2419). For comparison our Republican opponent in this election (Eric Nelson) voted AGAINST this bill because he thought it immoral.
He is no friend of the environment. One of the worst Democratic Legislators for Environment (28% Sierra Club score). For comparison that is only slightly better than our Republican opponent running for this State Senate race (17%). The grades of your other Kanawha County Legislators: Amanda Estep-Burton (64%), Larry Rowe (72%), and Mike Pushkin (92%).
Voted to restrict 1st Amendment rights of protest (HB 4615) as a give away to out of state corporations, even though current legislation already covered this.
Lived through Water Crisis then voted to eliminate water protections put in place afterward (SB 163).
73% rating from WV Citizens Defense League. Eric Nelson Jr. got a 29%, Joe Machin got a 7%, and Alex Mooney got a 100%. Why is a Democratic House member closer to Alex Mooney on this issue than Joe Manchin?
Never met a pro out of state industry bill he didn't love. (HB 4615, HB 2673, HB 3144, HB 144, SB 583, HB 4615, HB 4019, HB 4421, HB 4439).
Voted to increase penalties for homeless living in abandoned buildings (HB 4668).
Pro career politicians and unlimited time in office.
Who is the Democratic Party going to choose as their standard bearer in this upcoming general election? Andrew Robinson is supported by big money, he is anti-environment, anti-criminal justice reform, pro lobbyist. If you believe WV is on the right path then Andrew is the best one to represent you because he will not change WV's direction.
